Medical imaging in Victoria

Victoria has 439 accredited imaging practices that a referred patient can attend, in 220 towns and suburbs.

By scan: 416 sites for x-ray, 413 sites for ultrasound, 352 sites for CT, 140 sites for MRI, 63 sites for nuclear medicine and 23 sites for PET.

93 of the 140 MRI practices in Victoria are on the Australian Government's Medicare-eligible MRI list, which means 47 practices run an accredited MRI that may not attract a rebate. That gap is the single most useful thing to check before an MRI here.

The thinnest coverage in Victoria is PET and nuclear medicine.
