PET in Tasmania

Tasmania has 3 practices accredited for PET, spread over two towns and suburbs.

Outside the capital there are one. That leaves large parts of Tasmania more than an hour from the nearest one, which is what the town pages below are for.

A PET scan is the scarcest scan in Australia — the scanners sit almost entirely in capital cities and a handful of large regional hospitals.

Seven towns in Tasmania have imaging of their own but no PET. Each of those has a page giving the nearest machine and the distance from that town — that is the number that decides whether the scan happens.

The towns and suburbs with PET include Hobart and Launceston.

The heaviest concentrations are Hobart (two practices) and Launceston (one practice). Outside those, most towns with PET have exactly one practice, which is worth knowing when you are weighing a wait against a drive.
