Nuclear medicine in Western Australia

26 practices in Western Australia are accredited for nuclear medicine, in 16 towns and suburbs.

Six of them are outside the capital. That leaves large parts of Western Australia more than an hour from the nearest one, which is what the town pages below are for.

Nuclear medicine uses a small amount of a radioactive tracer, so it needs a licensed department rather than a general imaging room.

Eleven towns in Western Australia have imaging of their own but no nuclear medicine. Each of those has a page giving the nearest machine and the distance from that town — that is the number that decides whether the scan happens.

The towns and suburbs with nuclear medicine include Nedlands, Murdoch, Perth, Joondalup, Midland, Bunbury, Albany and Wembley.

The heaviest concentrations are Nedlands (five practices), Murdoch (four practices), Perth (two practices), Joondalup (two practices) and Midland (two practices). Outside those, most towns with nuclear medicine have exactly one practice, which is worth knowing when you are weighing a wait against a drive.
